US Open 2016: Nadal,Djokovic cruise to Round 3; Raonic & Muguruza suffer shocking exits- American qualifier Ryan Harrison has knocked out Canadian national fifth seed and Wimbledon runner-up Milos Raonic. Novak Djokovic turned out to be lucky as he was handed a free pass into the last 32.

Harrison, who is ranked 120th in the ATP rankings, has managed to pull off the biggest upset of the tournament so far as he beat Raonic 6-7 (4/7), 7-5, 7-5, 6-1. He now will play Marcos Baghdatis for a place in the last 16.

The 24-year old said that the match was very physically tough and that this was a very big win for him.

Raonic, considered as a potential candidate for the title, hit 18 aces and 69 winners but committed 62 unforced errors.Raonic started cramping midway through the second set but continued play. As a result, he couldn’t even lift his bags at the end of the match.

Djokovic made the last 32 of a major for the 33rd successive time without as much walking on the court as Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic withdrew from their second round encounter suffering an inflammation of the left forearm. Djokovic himself faced surgery after his round 1 win.

Djokovic will face Mikhail Youzhny for a place in the last 16.

Former number one Caroline Wozniacki defeated 2004 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4, 6-4. Initially, she was a little left behind but eventually caught up and won.

Second-seeded Angelique Kerber who is the Australian Open champion made the last 32 by defeating Mirjana Lucic-Baroni 6-2, 7-6 (9/7).She would face either CiCi Bellis or Shelby Rogers from the US for a spot in the Last 16.
The Spanish-Venezualian Garbine Muguruza  fell out of the second round of the US Open after losing to Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova. This came as a shock to many as Muguruza was the third seeded and is also the French Open this year. Muguruza, made her debut on the Arthur Ashe stadium and served first but was overhauled by Sevastova.
