Dipa Karmakar an Indian gymnast had made the Indian’s Head up by becoming the first Indian to cut for individual vault finals in the Rio Olympics Games who finished 8th qualifying round.

Dipa Karmakar, an Indian artistic gymnast, who has created a history by entering Vault finals. She is one of those courageous persons who are brave enough to makes their dreams true. She came to recognition when she won a medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. And she has again made India proud.She is the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for the Olympics. Tripura, a hilly north-eastern Indian state, hometown of Dipa Karmakar, is filled with joy as the talented girl of their state is bringing fame to her family as well as the people of Tripura.
In India, where people are not as fascinated by gymnastics as by sports like cricket, it becomes quite difficult to opt for gymnastics. It is not so easy to raise funds for advanced training to get specialized in a particular sport. But above all, what matters the most is dedication towards your aim. Hard work and determination are the key to overcome all the hurdles that come your way. And Dipa Karmakar, starting her gymnastics practice at the age of 6, worked day and night for her dreams.
The 22-year-old gymnast performed ‘Produnova’ vault and qualiied for the final. No other competitor could score more than her in individual vault. The last time Indians participated in gymnastics in Olympics was in 1964. Recognising Dipa Karmakar’s talent, Tripura’s sports and youth affairs department promoted her to Sports Officer last year. For her achievements, she was given the Arjuna Award last year.
Whenevr she goes airborne, she puts her life at risk. If she misses, she may have to pay a heavy price. Dipa landed her ‘Produnova’ perfectly, much better than that of other competitors, making her place among the top eight. She has made India proud. India wishes her the best and has high hopes from her.
