Abhinav Bindra to be India’s flagbearer at Rio 2016 Olympics- The best Indian star shooter Abhinav Bindra now has been chosen as the India’s flagbearer at the Rio Olympics in 2016, it is confirmed the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Friday. Bindra, who will be making his fifth appearance in the Olympics this year, and was earlier named one of the goodwill as the ambassadors for the Indian contingent in the mega sporting events. Bindra is now 33 years old, till the date remains the country’s only sportsperson to win a gold medal in an individual event at the Olympics. He achieved the feat at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, clinching the gold medal in the 10m air rifle event. He firstly won the gold medalin this Olympics. Along the side the other stars like the best boxer- Vijender Singh, tennis legends- Leander Paes and decorated grappler Sushil Kumar, then Abhinav Bindra’s name was under consideration prior to the 2012 London Games.
