UEFA Euro 2016: Spain Announce Team Squad; Costa, Torres, Mata Omitted

With the club matches and their seasons coming to end all the focus is now switching towards national sides. Euro Cup 2016 which is scheduled to begin from 10th June is now trending worldwide with some shocking news.

On Tuesday, Spain coach  Vicente del Bosque ahead of Euro 2016 announced provisional 25 man squad. Former Atletico Madrid striker currently playing for Chelsea, Diego Costa was a notable absentee from squad. His Chelsea teammates, Pedro, Cesc and Cesar however have made it to 25 man squad.

Atletico Madrid’s current striker Fernando Torres also has failed to find place in 25 man squad. Along with them Manchester United’s midfielder Juan Mata is another notable player not to feature in Spain’s squad. Mata’s club teammate David de Gea has been named among 3 GK’s announced. Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla has also failed to find his name in announced team squad.

Spain who are looking for their third successive Euro title are placed in group D along with Croatia, Czech Republic and Turkey. Spain will kick off their campaign on 13th June against Czech Republic.

Here is the provisional 25 Man squad for Spain:

Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, Sergio Rico, David de Gea

Defenders: Sergio Ramos, Cesar Azpilicueta, Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, Marc Bartra, Dani Carvajal,  Mikel San Jose.

Midfielders: Andres Iniesta, Juanfran, Bruno Soriano, Koke, Thiago Alcantara,  Isco, David Silva, Sergio Busquets, Pedro Rodriguez, Cesc Fabregas.

Forwards: Nolito, Alvaro Morata, Aritz Aduriz, Lucas Vasquez, Saul Niguez.
