They have agreed to pay Juventus the massive fee for their France superstar and will hand Pogba a five-year contract worth £290,000-a-week, net. The midfielder is said to be ready to accept a €13m annual salary at Old Trafford, triple of his current salary. Officials from the Premier League club met with their Juventus counterparts earlier on Wednesday to discuss a deal to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford.
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward agreed the deal with Juve directors Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici, as well as the player’s agent Mino Raiola.
It was reported a few days back that Pogba had rejected an initial offer of £90m. Now it is confirmed that the club has finally agreed to match the asking price of Juve to get Pogba on board. After clinching this mind-boggling deal Pogba has surpassed Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo. He now stands alone as the world’s most expensive footballer. Pogba has already informed the landlord of the house he rents in Turin that he will be leaving.
He originally left United for Juventus four years ago due to a lack of first-team opportunities, but his imminent return to the club will cap a busy start in the transfer market for new boss Jose Mourinho. United have already added Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to their squad, with Mourinho keen to get his major business tied up as quickly as possible.
