Prabir Mukherjee passes away at age of 86- Former chief curator of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Prabir Mukherjee passed away last night on 31st May at the age of 86 in Kolkata. The 86 year old man Prabir Mukherjee was suffering from some liver problem from around some time. The BCCI (Board of Cricket for Control in India) confirmed the news from the official account on Twitter.

Mukherjee was in charge of the Eden Gardens for over 25 years and last worked there till the third Twenty20 International between India and South Africa in October last year. He prepared the pitch for the 1987 World Cup final at the venue. He was the manager of the Bengal and West Zone teams as well after starting work with the CAB in 1979. His one of his incident, he refused MS Dhoni’s request to produce spin-friendly track during England’s tour of India in 2012. At that time he gained a lot of attention during England’s tour of India in 2012
Prabir Mukherjee had retired from accounts officer with South Eastern Railway and after started woring as a curator in 1980s. He looked after the pitches of Eden Garden and Jadavpur University Ground in Salt Lake and at the Deshbandhu Park. His last assignment at the Eden Gardens was for a Twenty20 International between India and South Africa in last October. The match was stopped due to rain.
