The young dynamic seamer Carig Yound from Ireland squad is out of the upcoming series due to major elbow injury. He has to undergo surgical treatment to keep himself ready for the five ODI series against Afghanistan in July. Barry McCarthy the 23 year old fast bowler has been introduced as replacement of the injured player. McCarthy has been a formidable county player playing for Durham was recently rewarded last month for his outstanding performance of maiden first class five wickets.

Expectations are raised from this young player and teams coach John Bracewell stated that “Barry has been in tremendous form with his county team Durham and thus well deserves the opportunity as a powerful cricketer to fit in well with the squad.

The Skipper William Porterfield will lead his team which constitute of fairly experienced squad with most of the players (seven) of 13 have made their international appearances playing for the Ireland team. John Anderson and Graeme McCarters poor recent form found themselves out of the 13 team squad and will hope to be included back for the Afghanistan Five ODI series scheduled in July.
