India will not withdraw from ICC Champions Trophy 2017 confirms Vinod Rai : The new interim head of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Vinod Rai has put end to all speculations which were being made for past two days on will India withdraw from ICC Champions Trophy 2017 scheduled in England later this year.
A few media channels had claimed that India may pull out of ICC Champions Trophy as a sign of protest. However, Vinod Rai denied all the reports. Vinod Rai told Bangalore Mirror, “I can’t comment on rumours.”
“Why should BCCI withdraw the Indian team from the tournament? Doesn’t the Indian public want us to participate in the tournament? Everybody says we can withdraw from the Champions Trophy. Is it feasible? Will there not be a huge backlash? Gone are the days when we could threaten and get away,” Rai said.
As of now, ‘Big Three’ – BCCI, ECB & CA enjoy maximum share from ICC annual income. But few changes here and there in ICC revenue system will impose major loss to Indian cricket board. Still, India will receive a share of 20%. The voting would be done in ongoing ICC meeting for new revenue share system.
