India Blue 707/10: Pujara and Jackson put India Blue in command

India Blue 707/10: Pujara and Jackson put India Blue in command- The India Blue’s marathon innings against India Green came to an end with an amazing scoring of 707 piled up by the Blue’s on the day Two of Duleep Trophy match. India Blue’s climbing high in the first innings total gives them significant benefit of making it for the finals against India Red. The washout earned by India Blue against India Red proved to be super significant for them to reach ahead of India Green on the points table. The match took place at Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground on Monday, 5th September.

Cheteshwar Pujara creating his mark with an appreciable score of 166. Not only that but Jackson scoring 105 off 114 balls hitting 7 fours and 5 sixes. These two gems made a command over their skills and proved significant to lead India Blue to the position they are now at. Karn Sharma was pretty good on his part with quickfire fifty six.

Pujara in his 280 ball-innings hit 24 boundaries, not a single six. He seemed extremely cautious while playing. “Even when I was facing spinners, it was very difficult to pick the googly under lights, a little difficult to pick the seam on the pink ball.” Pujara stated post his failure to score beyond 166. “This was my first game with the pink ball. I enjoyed batting on this wicket. There wasn’t much help for the fast bowlers. The most difficult session was the third session (on the first day), under lights, when they took the second new ball. It moved about and came on faster.”, he continued. He exclaimed the toughness of facing the new ball under lights and that too on the opening day.

Jackson on the other hand too was quite focused and confident. Stepping down to the spinners and hitting the ball in the air fearlessly showcased his confidence and command over his skills. Even though been dropped by M Vijay at slip on seventy four he managed an appreciable display of clean hitting. “I consider myself lucky; I was dropped in the 70s. Every match I score is important, but to score in such matches is very important because it is live and people are watching. It [the surface] should behave a little differently on days 3 and 4. Both the sides [of the ball] are scuffed up a little bit.” Jackson stated.
