Badrinath to switch to Hyderabad for upcoming Ranji Season – Ranji Trophy is the domestic first-class cricket tournament held in India. According to the schedule announced by Board of Control for Cricket in India, the 83rd edition of Ranji trophy tournament will be played at neutral venues. The Ranji Trophy 2016-17 championship will begin on October 6th, 2016 and will be concluded on 11th of January, 2017.As, the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy is going to commence soon, the former Tamil Nadu batsman Subramaniam Badrinath is all set to don new role as a captain of Hyderabad side in the forthcoming season of Ranji Trophy.
Badrinath, who captained Vidarbha for two seasons of Ranji Trophy, is currently the skipper for Karaikudi Kaalai in the TamilNadu Premier League. The Hyderabad’s Ranji side has not performed well in the Ranji Trophy championship since many years now. Being the leader of team, Badrinath’s duty is to deliver the best for his team. He was keen to take up the mentor role for his home state Tamil Nadu, but with the Hyderabad offer in hand he took up the role out of consideration. Apart from leading the side, he will have the responsibility of mentoring the players as Hyderabad team has decided to form a young team.
Badrinath has been one of the most prolific run-gutters in the Indian domestic scene, having scored 9778 in total of 136 matches ever since he made his debut in 2000-01 season of Ranji Trophy. He last played for national side in the West Indies in the year 2011. In one of his interview he said that, it will be pretty challenging task, but he is ready to lead side and he will be expecting great time with Hyderabad side in the forthcoming season of Ranji Trophy. He is very much excited to mentor younger side. The side also has new head coach Bharath Arun, the former Indian bowling coach, who was appointed last month. So, with the new leadership opportunity, Badrinath is looking forward to lead the youngest Hyderabad team in the upcoming season of Ranji Trophy.
